ABOUT
About Aikido
Aikido West
Aikido is a Japanese martial art founded on the principle of non-resistance rather than confrontation. Regular practice promotes flexibility, coordination, and agility which typically leads to increased confidence and wellbeing. Aikido is a subtle and graceful art which when properly practiced requires no strength and is therefore suitable for all.
A simple translation is not possible but aikido can be interpreted to mean the way (do) of harmony (ai) with vital energy (ki).

Aikido West is affiliated with the British Aikido Federation. Instructor Arabella Braun (5th Dan) practiced with Kanetsuka Sensei (8th Dan, Hombu Aikikai Foundation Tokyo) since 1988 until his passing in 2019.
